From the bustling atmosphere of the iconic Bluff Oyster & Food Festival to the attractions of Invercargill, this fully escorted tour celebrates local flavours, southern heritage and warm Southland hospitality. Enjoy a day at one of New Zealand’s most iconic food festivals, discover an impressive collection of vintage vehicles at Bill Richardson Transport World, visit Motorcycle Mecca and explore the beautiful gardens of Queens Park.
Day 1 – Friday 21 May 2027 – Arrive in Invercargill
Fly from Auckland to Invercargill. On arrival, enjoy a short orientation tour before checking into your accommodation. The remainder of the day is at leisure to explore Invercargill independently.
Accommodation: Distinction Invercargill Hotel – 3 nights.
Day 2 – Saturday 22 May 2027 – Bluff Oyster & Food Festival (B)
After breakfast, travel south to the seaside township of Bluff for the famous Bluff Oyster & Food Festival. Your festival admission ticket is included, giving you the opportunity to enjoy live music, oyster-opening and eating competitions, and a lively celebration of local food and culture.
Discover the region’s culinary delights, from Bluff oysters and other seafood to Southland favourites. Additional food and beverage purchases are at your own expense. Later, return to Invercargill, with the evening at leisure.
Note: Bluff oysters are a wild seasonal harvest, so their availability at the festival may vary depending on the season’s catch.
Day 3 – Sunday 23 May 2027 – Invercargill Sightseeing (B)
Discover some of Invercargill’s most popular attractions, beginning with Bill Richardson Transport World, the world’s largest private collection of its type. Explore more than 300 vehicles, including classic cars, retro Kombis, vintage trucks and historic petrol pumps. An onsite café is available for lunch at your own expense.
This afternoon, enjoy time to explore Queens Park, with its beautifully maintained gardens, rose garden, Japanese garden, tree-lined walkways and native plant collections. Continue to Motorcycle Mecca, home to more than 300 motorcycles from around the world. The remainder of the day is at leisure, with the opportunity to dine at one of Invercargill’s excellent local restaurants.
Day 4 – Monday 24 May 2027 – Depart Invercargill (B)
After breakfast, enjoy some free time before checking out and transferring to Invercargill Airport. Fly back to Auckland with wonderful memories of the Bluff Oyster & Food Festival and the attractions of Southland.
