Cruise Description

9 Night cruise departing from Rio to Buenos Aires onboard Azamara Quest.

Spend nine nights immersing yourself in the most exciting destinations and best golf courses South America has to offer! Your voyage begins in spirited Rio De Janeiro, where you’ll have two nights in port to discover this vibrant city. Unwind in the botanical garden, and head to Mirante Dona Marta in Tijuca National Park for the best sunset views of the city. Is your golf game gold medal-worthy? You’ll have the chance to find out at the Olympic Course—part of the 2016 summer games.

From Rio, sail to Ilhabela, a Brazilian archipelago known for its pristine natural beauty, picture-perfect beaches, and ecotourism.

Next up, discover São Paulo, the vibrant, fast-paced financial center of Brazil. Don’t miss the São Paulo Museum of Art and the São Paulo Cathedral, with an eye-catching blend of both Gothic and Renaissance styles. Here you’ll play at Sao Paulo Golf Club, built by legendary Canadian course architect Stanley Thompson.

After two nights at sea on board Azamara Quest®, you’ll dock in Montevideo, Uruguay’s capital city. Stroll the streets of Ciudad Vieja, the Old Town, which dates back to the early 1700s and is lined with colonial homes, one-of-a-kind shops, and sidewalk cafes. Take the opportunity to tee off along the banks of the RIo de la Plata and enjoy a late stay in port.

The resort city of Punta del Este, Uruguay, is beloved surfing destination and home to the undulating Cantegril course. Finally, sail for an overnight in Buenos Aires, a cosmopolitan capital city infused with Latin flair! The city boasts more than 280 theaters—more than any other city in the world—and the Buenos Aires Golf Club, considered among the top courses in South America.

Highlights of this cruise:

Rio De Janeiro, Brazil
Samba on down to Rio, easy going except for the four days of frenetic, feather-festooned Carnaval. No journey to Rio would be complete without a visit to one of the New Seven Wonders of the World—Christ the Redeemer. At the top of Corcovado Mountain, this 125-foot-tall statue of Jesus Christ spreads its arms over Rio and offers breathtaking panoramic views of Guanabara Bay.

Ilhabela, Brazil
This “beautiful island” lives up to its name, and today belies its once lurid reputation as a hideout of smugglers and pirates. State park trails provide access to a luscious jungle, with numerous waterfalls where you can stop for a swim along the way. And when you work up an appetite there is nothing better than shrimp right off the boat, accompanied by Brazil’s national cocktail, the Caipirinha.

Sao Paulo, (Santos), Brazil
Whatever your heart desires, you’ll have no trouble finding it in São Paulo—Brazil’s largest and most diverse city. From incredible museums to delicious food, cultural landmarks, and relaxing green space, Azamara can help you discover the local flavor of São Paulo.

Montevideo, Uruguay
Montevideo exudes European charm and elegance, with broad boulevards, fountains, stately squares, and irresistible sidewalk cafes. Take in the Art Nouveau pedestrian mall, Art Deco Centenary Stadium, and American Embassy designed by I.M. Pei. Most of the nation’s countryside is farm or ranchland, and the life of the cowboy, or gaucho, is part of the local lore.

Punta Del Este, Uruguay
Punta del Este's white sand beaches are popular with families and the glitterati alike. Fashionable cafes and shops line the streets, and an evening harbor-front stroll will no doubt include a serenade by street musicians and entertainers. The town projects an artsy vibe, with the Brava Beach open air sculpture park, displaying large works in steel, concrete, wood, iron, and marble.

Buenos Aires, Argentina
Welcome to elegant, cosmopolitan Buenos Aires, with its European colonial architecture and colorful mix of cultures. Each district has its own style: enjoy Palermo with its mansions and parks; shop in the chic boutiques of Soho and Hollywood; and soak up the Italian flavor of La Boca where tango dancers and artists display their talents for passersby.
